biographyKirsten Sundquist has been riding and training her entire life and after 35 years of working with horses, she is as passionate and intrigued as ever with the horse/human connection. Raised on a horse ranch in Colorado, Kirsten was trained in a variety of styles of riding on a multitude of breeds from a very young age. She began competing at the age of five and won numerous awards at the state, regional and national levels throughout her youth. But it was at the age of 16 when Kirsten truly found her passion-dressage and the art of classical horsemanship. However, Kirsten did not consider her real training in riding, and in
life for that matter, to begin until she faced the great challenge of
a difficult horse and a difficult ailment, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. After
receiving a degree in English, Kirsten had to slow down the "over-achievement
wagon" and look to what was most important. With the help of a great
horse named "Royce" and her friend and teacher, internationally
known French Classical dressage master, Dominique Barbier, she began an
intense study of training which really became a path of personal and spiritual
growth and healing. Twelve years since that process began, Kirsten continues
to explore the possibilities, life lessons and love the horses have to
give through riding, training and teaching the art of horsemanship. |
